Beaches, Water & Trees….these are a few of my favorite things | Morgan & Justin|Beach Engagement Session

So your wedding day is fast approaching and you might be feeling a little anxious about how you are going to look in all those wedding pictures that are going to be taken of you the whole day. We typically take about 5000 images in one wedding day and if you follow even just a few of these tips...you will be doing yourself a favor! Getting Ready & The Bridal Suite: 1.Wherever you are getting ready, and by that I mean putting on your dress & retouching make-up and hair, should be lit with as much natural light as possible. If you have any windows that are able to be open, your wedding photographer will love you if you open those blinds up and let the light in. 2. Make sure your wedding dress is out of its bag and hanging in a window,

July 27, 2010The first time I went to Semiahmoo Resort in Blaine, Washington...I had a (cranky) newborn baby and my husband and I had to take turns stepping out of the restaurant at dinner time to shush and try to get her to calm down. I think that was when we decided that we needed our own romantic get-aways without kids. Semiahmoo is such an amazing place to get away! Its such a gorgeous destination for weddings...with its amazing view of the water, the sand, the salty sea air and the great resort! Meagan & Ryan's weddings was absolutely stunning! The weather was a perfect 80 degrees with a slight breeze coming off the water. The flowers were incredible and the people....hilarious! The reception was rockin....pics to be posted soon! I love sand. I love sun. I love any place that I can look out into the ocean (or in this case Puget Sound) and just think. Being around water, sun and sand just makes me happy. When Sara said she would like to shoot their engagement session at Alki Beach, I was so excited. I love Alki Beach....it has a special place in my heart. It was where I went on my first non-date/date with my husband. We had actually started out at the Troll in Fremont, then tried to go somewhere else, and got on the Alaskan Way Viaduct and ended up in Alki...much to both of our delights. The fact that we talked the whole way, and not once were worried that we where lost...told me alot about this guy. He was a keeper. :) Anyway...back to Sara & Adam....They are such a sweet, happy couple. I love
Cool Old Churches & Brides on the Beach! | Seattle Wedding Photographer | Kaylee Eylander
July 22, 2010I've known Malissa for a few years now. We attended the same awesome church...and she was always the bubbly, friendly gal at the door greeting people. I love friendly, bubbly people....so I just naturally loved Malissa. Plus, she was a smart, bubbly, friendly person....she's a high school chemistry teacher. I'm a pretty smart girl, so I can really appreciate smart. :) I had heard about Geoff when Malissa first met him...and he sounded almost too good to be true. He was an avid sports fan (Malissa had attended our Super Bowl Party and actually knew what was going on) and he took her to New York City to propose to her in Central Park...with a local New York Photographer hiding in the bushes to capture it all. What a smart dude. :) On their wedding day, the ceremony was located at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Everett, WA and....it
I have heard a lot of wedding ceremonies in my day (over 7 years of shooting weddings!) and some really stand out in my mind. The ceremonies that i love the most are the personal, real, and meaningful ceremonies: One that tells me a lot about the bride and groom. One that tells me what is important to them, one that makes me go home and give my husband a big kiss on the lips and tell him how thankful I am for him.....that's a good ceremony in my mind. Rochelle & David's wedding had all that and more! I loved hearing their story...from David's point of view. Her making him a blue grass mix tape...and him feeling the pressure to make her an even better one...without seeming to eager. I loved hearing every detail. I loved hearing that they went on a hike and on the way, she reminded him
I don't know if this ever happens to you....but sometimes I look at wedding blogs, and i see an amazingly creative, blow my mind session...and I think to myself....Holy Cow! I could never think up something like that! How do they do it??? I know am a creative person...and that translates to creative photography, but I sometimes when I'm trying to think of a new idea...I get a mental block. I look at other photographer's blogs and I just am perplexed...how do they come up with these incredible ideas? Then....it happened. I had a dream. My own lovely creative idea plopped itself into my brain one morning. I say morning, because my dear little Evan wakes up every day promptly at 6 am and wants some breakfast and doesn't stop until he gets some. :) So yesterday morning, I made his toast, turned on the Disney channel and fell back asleep.
Here's some more from Colette & Bryan's Wedding day! It was so much fun to be a part of. I loved her short style wedding dress...and those shoes! When I asked her which shoes were hers, she said, " they are the ones that look like a garden!" ah...yes they do! one of my favorite moments of this awesome wedding ceremony was when Bryan and Colette offered each other's children each a ring, as they are celebrating the blending of their families. I had to say that I got a bit choked up, along with the audience! That happens to me quite a bit! Hot pink Wedding shoes & Flaminco Wedding Dresses | Snohomish Wedding Photographer | Swan's Trail Chapel
July 8, 2010I love people in love.....especially when i can see a bride and groom in love on their wedding day. I love to see them looking across the room at the reception...and you can just see in their eyes how much they love each other. This is the way Sean and Kim looked at each other on their wedding day. It just made me so happy. Then later on, as the reception progressed, I noticed Kim's mom and dad, as well as Sean's mom and dad, dancing with each other on the dance floor...having fun, laughing and looking lovingly into each other's eyes. I think that love is something you have to work hard at, maintain and cultivate...just like growing a plant (like I am failing at right now!). It takes water, sun, weeding, fertilizer and love to make a plant grow....and if it doesn't have some of those elements, your
I love it when people that are like me hire me. I love hot pink....Kim's wedding party's shoes were all different kinds of hot pink. I love peonies. Her wedding party bouquets were peonies (and they smelled amazing!). I love all different kinds of dresses....you guessed it...the girls had all different kinds of black dresses.....somehow, even though the girls were all wearing different dresses, it all came together beautifully....ps...I love things that are not all matchy matchy. All my kitchen chairs are different, but painted white with different shades of turquoise on the seats (maybe a future blog post!). I also have been collecting different kinds of blue and white dishes...that don't match each other....Some people just don't get it...but its right up my ally. Anyway...back to Sean and Kim's wedding! I just loved this new wedding venue in Snohomish, WA called Swan's Trail Chapel. It is so amazing! It had
