Bellingham DIY Wedding | A Wedding in the rain never looked so good!| Kaylee Eylander

On the way up to Amy & Dana’s Wedding, I had a slight fear that it was going to rain. It was drizzling, and well…it just was not looking good.  By the time we got passed Bellingham to Lynden…I just had to accept the fact that it was going to rain that day. August 7th…the supposed day least likely to rain according to the Farmer’s Almanac. I accepted that fact…what I didn’t expect was the house full of happy bridesmaids and a bride that was ready to toss aside her amazing Aqua slash Turquoise shoes for her cute rubber boots. Either way, I was happy!:)

When I saw this incredible wedding dress hanging in the window…I gasped with delight! It was so beautiful in that window!

When I saw the incredible red & white bouquets…I was so delighted! Can you believe the Dalia’s (one of my favorite flowers!!! I had tons of these in my wedding!) and the unripe Raspberries? There were rows of raspberries at the homestead where Amy and Dana got married, so she wanted to incorporate them into her bridal bouquets since they were the perfect apple green! So clever! What I really couldn’t believe was that they had done all these amazing flowers themselves! Talk about some amazing DIY details! These flowers were incredible!I loved that the bridesmaids all had their own style dresses, either in Aqua or Apple green…both with cool pops of Red! Then they all had these bright red shoes from Target. perfect. The really popped against the lush green back drop of the wedding ceremony location. I love that they had to “doctor” these shoes up so they didn’t fall off! They had to get all different sizes because there were just so many bridesmaids. And to think they walked all around the squishy mud in these and didn’t complain once! These bridesmaids get the “Best Bridesmaids of the the Year Award!”These are some of the amazing raspberry rows that Amy had told me about in her first email to me. Yep. They are just as amazing as I had hoped. Even in the drizzle! And here is the tire swing that she had told me about as well. Loved it to pieces. Loved her for having the guts to jump up there in her wedding dress! And rain boots!Look how happy this wedding party is…even in the rain! Don’t you just love the bridesmaids dresses???? AH! I love the color combo!By the time the ceremony rolled around it was full on raining…but that didn’t put a damper on….ANYTHING! These guys have amazing friends and family and they all brought umbrellas and it was spectacular!

I absolutely loved this red cabinet that Amy’s dad spent 3 months refinishing. I know because when I asked if I could load it into my car to take home…he was very emphatic that it took for ever to refinish and it wasn’t going anywhere! What a fun DIY project that could would last years after your wedding. I found one of these on the side of the road with a FREE sign on it and made my husband stop and pick it up! I painted mine white…and first used it as a closet in my baby daughters room…then it graduated to housing all my camera equipment. Its a project that I’m glad I did! I want another one!

The Cookie Bar had all kinds of cookies made by friends and relatives. There were little bags to put cookies into as favors for guests to take home. What a perfect DIY wedding favor!  I loved the idea!I love the little vintage shrug that Amy put on after the ceremony! It was the perfect addition to her vintage modern look and i loved it!You bet we got pedicures after this wedding!:) You can see just how slippery the mushy muddy grass was….My goal the whole day was not to slip and fall…something I’ve done many times before! I just treaded lightly and crossed my fingers.Yep…still raining….again. No one cared!:)

This is what Dana referred to as a “Broquet”. Composed of beef jerky, pepperoni sticks, some crazy glue and maybe a beer? I think he may have taken a bite out of it before tossing it. Apparently, this is a tradition that Dana’s man friends have created as to have equality with the ladies!:) I love this tradition!

Joe & Sharon | Sikh Indian Wedding | Seattle Wedding Photographer

For 7 plus years I have been shooting weddings. Basically the same story….bride gets ready, bride & groom meet, bride and groom kiss, their wedding party comes along, then the ceremony and then we rock out at the reception. For the first time in 7 years…I had no idea what was going to happen next. At Joe & Sharon’s Sikh wedding ceremony, I was a follower. It was a colorful adventure…full of some pretty different and cool stuff.

Cool Stuff at the Sikh Ceremony:

  • Amazingly beautiful and relaxing music (sikh prayers set to sweet drums and some other crazy instrument that sounds like a cross between an accordion and a bag pipe).
  • incredible colors: Sari’s in every yummy color you could imagine (pink, blue, sea foam, magenta, turquoise and of course, Sharon’s bright red.)
  • New Rituals: The groom leading the bride around the holy book 4 times, being helped by his friends and the guests dropping lots of money in the bride & grooms laps!

Thank you Sharon & Joe for letting us be a part of both of your special days!:)

Dancing with Curtis & Shannon| Engagement Session in Downtown Everett

So I have known Curtis, the groom since I was about 14 yrs. old. He rocked the drums in the youth group band….I was a back-up singer. He would indulge my love for the cow bell once and a while…and knows that I like alot of kick drum on 1-2-3&4. He has always been a super nice guy…and has found a super nice girl to dance through the rest of his life with. They reconnected on facebook….another one of those online things that blossoms! It was so wonderful to see both of them so in love! She started dancing for exercise (and if you’ve ever watched Dancing with the Stars, you know its a total workout!), then  danced competitively…and he took up dancing to spend more time with her…now they will be getting married at the amazing Premier Ballroom ! They are even going to teach the guests a dance lesson at the reception!!  I can’t wait!

Camano Island Beach Wedding | Jamie & David | Destination Wedding Photographer

I can’t even tell you how much I was looking forward to Jamie & David’s Wedding. At my meeting with Jamie, we just clicked….and when she told me that she was so glad I was blonde….I knew I she was my kind of bride! Their engagement Session was amazing and was the perfect set up for this wonderful wedding on the beach! I have always loved Camano Island and shot one of my first weddings there (on film!!!) over 6 years ago.

Here are a few…just to wet your whistle…more on the way!
