I had such a great time with Maura & Kyle at Discovery Park in Seattle. This is absolutely one of my favorite places to shoot in the Seattle area. Tall grass, cool random old buildings, the water and an amazing lighthouse…can it get any better than that! I cannot wait for their wedding this summer!2 Comments »

I’m not sure when it happen…but my little girl is turning into a young lady. I’m not sure if I’m ready for it…but there is nothing I can do. I’ve been trying to embrace it…and just enjoy the ride. Today when she put this skirt on and said…”Mom! Let’s do a photoshoot!” …I jumped. I know I’m not going to get these precious little moments forever, so we ran out side and shot while the sun was still out. She literally looks like a girl version of my husband..its so funny to see. I am so thankful for her sense of adventure and confidence. I’m thankful that she still wants to hang out with me. :)9 Comments »
Props. They can be cheesy. But sometimes cheesy is good. I love when my clients bring things that are special about them to our engagement sessions! This could be as simple as a letter of their new name together, football jersey’s or startbucks cups! Below are some of my non cheesy ways to incorporate props into your engagement session!View / Edit Comments
There is something about photographing people that just love life. It makes my job so easy…and Katrina & Spenser are 2 of these people! They enjoy living. I loved so many details of this wedding…I was so surprised to hear that there were a ton of DIY details! For some reason, when I think of DIY, I don’t really think of Glamour and sparkles, but they totally showed me that it can be done!
Seriously…one of the best toasts I’ve heard in my 10 years of shooting weddings! The grooms brother had the whole room in stitches and in the palm of his hand…And the bride still hugged him after. Great story telling and a lot of love.
Part of what I love about weddings is being able to see people doing what they love…I love that Spenser’s Grandma was getting in the mix on the dance floor! This lady was an inspiration! You can tell where the Sado brothers get their love of dancing!!

There is something so special about having a daughter that is just so similar to myself. She loves sparkle, glitter, and the eighties. Yes….a decade that she has a love for…and wanted her birthday party all about it. We had so much fun planning and putting it together…we jammed to Pump up the Jam and Everybody Dance Now as we hung neon lanterns and black lights.
I loved that the day was born out of a cake plate. A yellow neon cake plate. When Jenny and I doing a photoshoot with her lovely cake plates, she pulled out a set of neon yellow amazing cake plates…Estelle freaked out and instantly knew what she wanted to do for her birthday party…4 months away!
I also loved that I didn’t even chat with Jenny, owner of Jenny Cookies (and creative genius!), about what she was going to make for the party…and she showed up with the most amazing neon deserts, Estelle jumped for joy!! If you are having a party, if you don’t know by now…this girl can rock out a dessert table! Even if you aren’t exactly sure what you want…give her a few adjectives…and she can’t help but get her wheels turning. I’m not quite sure how she does it, but she managed to hit it right on the head with 2 words…80′s Neon.
We made a splatter painted back drop out of photography back ground paper and just splatter painted it with all kinds of black light reactive paint…I’m not sure if the kids or myself ha d more fun doing this! We had our dance party in our Gym at Kaylee Eylander Photography in Lake Stevens…and we just had so much fun decorating it!
We love having photobooths at our bday parties…just one of the benefits of having a photographer for a mom, I guess!
