When I met Tara and Robert, I knew 2 things…One was that they would have a gorgeous wedding, two was that they would have a fun wedding party. When I first started photographing weddings 6 years ago (gasp!!!!!!!!), taking images of the wedding party was traditionally pretty stiff  and not so fun. Wedding Photography has progressed a lot in the last 6 years and its become a lot less stiff, stale and leaves room for a little imperfection and a ton of fun. I enjoy shooting these groups sessions so much more now, than I did when I started. There is so much more room for creativity and expression, and at Hidden Meadows, we had so many places to choose from! The image above was shot by my co-photographer, Molly Vaden, of Molly Vaden Photography.I love this shot! One of the great things about hiring is us is that you get at least (with some packages we have 3 photographers) two creative eyes, two vantage points and people in 2 or 3 places at a time. While Molly was shooting this image in the parking lot, Jen was shooting candids and I was in the bridal room shooting the bride and her bridesmaids getting ready.  It gives me great comfort to know that no moment is missed and the details and emotions of your day are captured. I don’t know what I would do with out my team! Thanks girls for all your hard work!

Oh my! Oh my! Oh my! I’m just so happy about the way Tara & Robert’s wedding day unfolded! We had SUCH a fun time at Hidden Meadows in Snohomish, WA. If you haven’t checked them out….you need to! What a beautiful wedding venue with such variety for photographers to choose from! I loved everything about it!!! It has an amazing view of the mountains & beautiful green fields past the outdoor wedding ceremony site, complete with gazebo! But not only that, they have a great indoor option that  you can use if it rains….or even if it doesn’t! And you still get to leave your reception decor in tact. Its all something you just have to see with your own eyes. Amazing. Peaceful and a gorgeous place to get hitched!

OH. MY. GOODNESS!!! I have to say that ever since I met Tara & Robert last….(October??) I imagined what their wedding day would actually be like. They are cool, laid back, yet still passionate about a few things…one being beer. I mean, I shot their engagement session at their favorite Bellingham watering hole, The Boundary Bay Brewery.  It was wonderful.

Anyway…..I have been dreaming about yesterday since I met them…and their wedding day did not disappoint! It was such a personal, beautiful, wonderfully thoughtful wedding, chock full of lovely details that point straight to the fact that these two people are so inlove! I loved every second of it. I just had so much fun, I had to talk about it!

One of my absolute favorite things of the night was the way their crazy guests went nuts in the FunBooth Photobooth! It was great! Manned by one of our new 3rd Photographers, Jen Milham, she helped to capture how hilarious and radical these peeps were!!!

One thing about being a photographer in Washington…..it rains. ERRR!  Its so annoying. The first Senior Session I did with Parisa ended with a drizzle turning into a downpour and my Canon 5d, didn’t like it, so we planned on finishing in the grass somewhere at a later date. Then for 3 weeks in row it rained every day we had planned for our next session. So the other day we met up at Lundeen Park and shot a few more pictures in the grass. The sun was out…it was a great day. I guess it makes up for the rain.:)Its Senior Portrait time! If you are a Junior, its time to make an appointment for your Senior 10 Session.

I love color. I do. I can’t help it. It just makes me happy. Especially on gloomy, rainy western Washington days. There’s nothing like a little color to brighten my day.  Fast forward to yesterday when, much to my surprise and delight, Matt showed up for his Senior Session with his bright yellow (his declared favorite color) hoodie and a turquoise hat (my declared favorite color). Together against the grey sky and hard texture walls, they were a feast for the eyes….and its just made me happy! Yay! We braved the rain and thanks to my lovely assistant (thanks Cheri!) and a willing senior, and 2 HUGE umbrellas, you would never guess in the images that it was a classic rainy Washington day.  Thanks Matt for toughing out the cold!
